Big 8 Conference Games
East Newton
McDonald County
Aurora
Seneca
Cassville
Lamar
Mt. Vernon
Monett
Non-League
Carl Junction
Central
While the best game to watch may be the Aurora/Seneca or Monett/Mt. Vernon the most intrigue may be over at Lamar. The Wildcats enter this game 2-1, their only blemish a 15-6 loss to Mountain Grove in week 2. Over the past 10 years Cassville has outscored Lamar 315-160, however, 97 of the Tigers points have come in the last 2 seasons. With wins of 48 and 49 to Zero. Lamar has won 4 consecutive State Titles without winning the Big 8 Conference. Of the last 10 Conference seasons Cassville has won 5 outright championships and in 2007 shared with Monett and Carl Junction. In 2008 Monett won the conference outright and then lost in the Quarterfinals to Cassville on their way to a State Championship and 2012 Monett returned the favor. Carl Junction has won the Big 8 each of the last 2 seasons, the other championship belongs to the Tomas Brock led Mountaineers in 2006.
Lamar enters this game with the most prolific offense over the past 4 years, they struggled a little in week three shut out in the 1st quarter for the first time since 9/7/12 when they were defeated 31-0 by, you guessed, Cassville.
While Lamar won a week ago 29-12 a week ago they are still averaging 45 points per game, Cassville is experienced up front and will need to draw that if they are likely to have a shot at a victory. Lamar may be the most difficult place to play in the Big 8 Conference.
Central Ozark Conference Large Division
Nixa
Willard
Ozark
Carthage
Neosho
Branson
Republic
Webb City
Interesting match ups here in the COC, Neosho coming off giving Willard a good test down in Neosho. 41-38 was the final score, each team scoring in the first 2 minutes and the last 2 minutes of the game. Neosho missing a FG with :17 left that would have forced overtime. Neosho is in Branson this week to take on a Pirate team that has struggled thus far this year. Republic travels to Webb who has not lost a regular season game at home since 2003. Ozark is in Carthage who scored 55 points last week against Central. But the game of the week in the conference is in Willard as the 3-0 Tigers host 2-1 Nixa. The Eagles have dominated the last decade winning 7 of 8 contest including 4 shutouts. These 2 did not play in '08 and '09, however Willard's 1 victory was a year ago when they shutout the Eagles 21-0. Nixa went on to the Class 5 State Championship game where they fell 25-22 to Battle in the Dome. Hunter Yeargin and Logan Tyler will be integral parts of both teams tonight. Should be a fun game to watch and will be the Jock 98.7 game of the week.

Central Ozark Conference Small Division
Buffalo
Reeds Spring
Marshfield
Rogersville
Hollister
Bolivar
Non-League
Catholic
Fair Grove
The COC small division is a combined 9-12 on the season, the only undefeated team is Reeds Spring who enters their game with Buffalo at 3-0, while the Bison are 0-3. Marshfield meets Rogersville, the Wildcats have only managed 6 points on the season and that was in a week 3 win over Catholic. Marshfield enters this game winless and hopes to get their first victory on the season. Catholic also looking for their first win on the season and will be in Fair Grove, the Eagles have scored 136 pts on the season while Coach Hancock's team has managed 18. But many will be paying attention to Bolivar hosting Hollister, it will be homecoming in Bolivar and the bleachers will be full at SBU. The Liberators have outscored Hollister 264-6 in 5 meetings, and with the situation that rose up over this past weekend I wonder what the final score will be at the end of this game.
Ozark Conference
Parkview
Waynesville
Rolla
Joplin
Lebanon
Glendale
West Plains
Hillcrest
Kickapoo
Camdenton
While there are 3 undefeated teams, West Plains, Kickapoo and Lebanon, none will be playing each other in week 4. Parkview and Waynesville are both 1-2 on the season with no like opponents. The Vikings started the '14 campaign 1-4 before winning 7 of their last 8. Anthony Riley had 269 yards rushing in a week 3 win over Rolla. Waynesville coming off their first win of the season last week 38-20 over Hillcrest. Waynesville won a year ago 42-23 and I am looking for a different outcome this week as Parkview may get on the winning track a little earlier this season.
South Central Association
Houston
Cabool
Thayer
Salem
Mountain Grove
Willow Springs
Ava
MV/BT Liberty
While it appears we are heading for a Mtn. View Liberty vs Mountain Grove matchup on the 25th of this month, Coach Acklin and Liberty won't be looking past a very good Ava team tonight. This conference is as good as any top to bottom. Could have 3 district champions in 3 different Classes. Thayer in class 1 could make a run, Liberty in Class 2 and Mountain Grove in class 3.
Spring River Valley
Diamond
Pierce City
Sarcoxie
Liberal
Jasper
Miller
Non-League 8-man contest
Greenfield
Chilhowee
IDLE
Lockwood
With just 3 games in the conference tonight, the best game may be in Pierce City as both teams come in just 1-1 on the season. With McAuley Catholic not having an eleven man team they both lost that game. Lockwood is idle this week unable to fill that game on their roster either. Jasper and Lockwood are likely the 2 best teams in the conference and will meet on the 25th of this month. Lockwood, Jasper and Miller shared the championship a year ago with Miller defeating Jasper, Jasper defeated Lockwood and Lockwood defeated Miller. Miller will not be in the mix this year already 0-3. Both Diamond and Pierce City have lost to Jasper, the winner of this game would have to beat Lockwood and hope for a Jasper win over Lockwood. That is a tall order, Lockwood is a very good class 1 team with several returners.
