Here is a look at District Football, at the midway point

In Class 5 District 4 Lebanon remains in the top spot despite the Yellowjackets falling short Friday night at Shumate Stadium.  A game in which Hillcrest committed 5 turnovers, and QB Jonah Hill was playing injured, the Hornets able to come out on top in what was one of the most exiting games in recent memory.  Lebanon already has victories over Waynesville, Camdenton and Rolla and nearly an 8 point lead over #2 Washington who they will not see in the regular season.  Camdenton could however make that jump from the 3 slot into the 2 position which would create a bye situation for the Lakers and perhaps set up a highway 5 battle in week 12 for a District title.

In Class 5 District 5 Ozark and Nixa hold on to the top 2 seeds, Ozark with a 6 point lead, however, Nixa has already faced Webb City while Ozark makes that journey in week 8.  Branson, Kickapoo and Glendale holding on the 3, 4, and 5 spots and they each take on undefeated teams this week so there may be some movement there as well.  As it stands right now Kickapoo would host Glendale again in week 10, while Branson would host a winless Neosho team.

Class 5 District 6 contains a Lee's Summit West team that many feel will figure into the Class 5 Championship in some form.  A decisive week 1 victory over defending state champion Staley has folks at Lee's Summit West liking thier chances.  Parkview holds on to the 2 seed in that District and would, at this point, would likely host the Willard Tigers.  Willard this week has Webb City at home before finishing up with Republic, Branson and Carthage.  In that 4 slot currently is the Central Bulldogs at 2-3 looking to move into that 3 slot.  Central with a more favorable schedule down the stretch and just 4 points behind Willard is looking to host a Ruskin team who is currently winless on the season.

Class 4 District 4 is knotted at the top with Webb City and Hillcrest being seperated by less than a point, both teams 5-0 and with the Cardinals we expected this, but post DGB this has been a pleasant suprise for the Hornets.  Both Webb and Hillcrest have only class 5 schools remaining on their schedule so if Hillcrest is going to overtake the Cardinals it will have to be by virtue of putting more points between them and thier opponents. That is providing both teams win out.  Hillcrest has a touph test this Thursday at Kickapoo with the Hornets coming off of a short week and seemingly beat up.  Kickapoo is at home and have had the full 7 days as they took on Glendale last Thursday.  And let's not overlook the fact that Webb City still has a game with Ozark in a couple of weeks.

In District 7 Bolivar jumped 3 spots into the 2 seed over Nevada and Raytown South, but will not likely overtake Harrisonville in points and even if they are able to do so, Harrisonville has a head-to-head victory over the Liberators.  At this point Bolivar will likely host Pleasant Hill if they are able to finish out the season.  The Liberators still have Catholic as well as much improved Reeds Spring left on their schedule.  Nevada will try to hang on to that 4 slot to host in week 10 with Northeast Law, Central, McDonald County and Stockton still to play.

Class 3 District 3 will likely see some moverment in the 3,4,5 seeds as well.  Ava holds the 5 seed at this point but the most difficult part of their schedule is behind them.  The remaining opponents are 5-15 on the season.  And this week seeds 3 and 4 Osage and Eldon play one another.  Ava could win out and claim at least the 4 seed and play host in week 10.

In District 4 is where the real rivalry games still have to take place.  Cassville is a strong #1 seed but still must take on Monett, Aurora and Mt. Vernon as part of thier Big 8 conference schedule.  Could see the most movement in this District as Monett is the 2 seed and Mt. Vernon the three with Mt. Vernon having already defeated Monett in week 1.   Aurora has slipped a little but takes on a 1-4 Rogersville team this Friday while Reeds Spring in the 4 slot will go up against Catholic in a COC meeting that will have conference implications as well.  Mt. Vernon takes on a very good Seneca team that had Cassville on the ropes.  The top 6 in this District may be the best 1 through 6 of any Distrcit.

In Class 2 District 3  you have Mtn. Grove, Liberty, Strafford and Fair Grove who will all likely host in week 10.  Only 3 losses between the top 4 teams with Strafford and Mtn. Grove both coming in at 5-0.  Strafford takes on Fair Grove and an Eagle loss combined with Willow Springs and Houston Playing up a Class could create some movement in the middle of this district.

Class 2 District 4 is an interesting one, defending State Champion Lamar finds themselves at 3-2 following some early season injuries, but hangs onto the 2 seed in that district following a blowout victory over then undefeated and 1 seeded Butler.  Sarcoxie is 1 seed at this point, but of thier 4 remaining games 3 opponents are a class below them in Class 1, while Lamar will play 3 games in Class 3 and this Friday vs Carl Junction a class 4 school.  So even if Sarcoxie is able to win out, and mind you they have Miller in week 9, Lamar can still capture the 1 seed with 2 losses.

In Class 1 District 1 I do not believe there will be much change as Thayer holds the 3 seed behind Portageville and Valle Catholic.

District 2 sees 5-0 Miller on top who gets to see thier rival Pierce City this week.  The Eagles are the 3 spot in that District and a win here would likely put them in the one seed, however a week 5 loss to Diamond creates some long odds.  4th Seeded Greenfield takes on Sarcoxie from Class 2 while the 5th seeded Lockwood Tigers have 0-5 Liberal and are just .10 behind Greenfield.

District 3 is one that the Skyline Tigers sit atop with a 5-0 record and host Ash Grove this Friday, Osceola sits in the 5th seed and will likely not move much this week as they take on Archie who is right behind them in the 6th sposition.

Well I have looked at these now for 5 weeks and there is still alot of Football to be played, but I hope you have a little better understanding of where your team is right now.
