The A\C Trophy Highschool Basketball Show on Jock 98.7
The A\C Trophy Highschool Basketball Show airs on "most" Tuesdays and all Fridays during the Basketball Season. It came about just over a year ago when I met with Art Haines about some Big 12 tickets that I had won through the station. Our next show will be Friday 12-26 from the freindly confines of Hammons student center during the first round of the Blue and Gold tourney. The show airs from 10pm to 11pm (sometimes we will go longer) and we visit with area coaches, administrators, officials and an occasional fan. We have had several guest co-host including Ryan Stokes, Miller boys head coach, Darin Archer(twice), Bolivar girls head coach, Luke Brosius, Buffalo boys head coach, and Darrel Campbell, author of the book "Aire to a Dream" the Pete Marevich story. We are all fans and love to talk sports. We hope that you can join us for our next show. The host's of this show are myself and Derek Barnes and we are looking foward to the remainder of the season.
Who would be some of the top ranked 1-3 Girls Teams?
Obviously Fair Grove would be in the mix, but who after that? Would Stockton be on that list? What about Skyline or Ash Grove. I am not sure let us know some teams with records and who they have beaten. Maybe even Pleasant Hope. To be honest, I am really not sure. How 'bout some help.
How about this list?
1. Fair Grove
2. Blue Eye
3. Skyline
4. Stockton
5. New Covenant
Post your comments, and we'll look further into this in the mean time!

Top 5 Boys Teams Class 1-3
1. Chadwick
What a fun team to watch. At 80+ points per game probably should have gotten into the Blue and Gold somehow. Looking forward to the Rogersville tourney and Districts.
2. Mt. Vernon
Yeah, I am a Homer, but you cannot argue with Zach Kliene and Skip Brock.
3. Pleasant Hope
Hey 6-1 including a win over up and coming COC team Buffalo.
4. Wheatland
A win over a very good Everton team and the leading scorer in the area in Couch (32+ ppg) hey do not overlook them as a possible Final 4 team.
5. Everton
A good inside out combo and a win over standout Dadeville, their District could be one of the touphest in 1A with Chadwick in the mix.

The Updated Top 5 in Class 4 and 5 Boys
1. Hillcrest
After a 2 point loss to class 5 #1 ranked Columbia Rock Bridge this only makes sense. Looking forward to matchups 1-6 at Kickapoo and 1-9 at Glendale.
2. Central
Following a lackluster showing at Bolivar the Bulldogs drop to #2.
3. Ozark
A beat down of Kickapoo, is the Central loss an aboration? 1-6 at Webb City and 1-13 vs Branson.
4. Aurora
Are they for real? A 40+ win at Bolivar, can they come from the three seed in the Blue and Gold, they will have to get by a very good Glendale team. Sorry Coach Meinders, no secret anymore! Quite capable of running the table after, or including, the Blue and Gold.
5. Webb City
We will find out Tuesday when they host Central!!!

The Top 10 Boys Players in the Area at this point.
1. Alex Hall SR. Kickapoo Chiefs
This 6'2" Senior is the only returning starter for the Chiefs and will have to pick up some of the scoring they lost to graduation. Last year averaging more than 14 points per game Hall did not have to be the goto guy. This year however, he will.
Next Games 12-19 at Ozark and 12-23 vs Parkview
2. Johnny Gray SR. Central Bulldogs
This 5'9" very elusive point guard may be one of the quickest in the area with a basketball in his hands. Scoring more than 16 points per last including shooting over %50 from the feild you can truly say the Bulldogs go as Johnny Gray goes.
Next Games 12-18 at Bolivar 12-22 at Webb City
3. Brock Shafer SR. Hillcrest
One of the steadiest players on the list, not flashy but deffinately his teams most valuable player. Averaging more than 10pts per last year as well as the team leader in assist this year Brock will need to spread the ball around and help groom some very talented underclassmen.
Next Games 12-15 vs Carthage 12-18 vs Parkview
4. Zach Kliene JR. Mt. Vernon Mountaineers
Other than Hall, Kliene may be the only other Division One player on the list, and maybe in football? This 6'5" Junior averaged 20 points per last year as well as 3+ assist. An athlete that could be one of the highest football recruit in the area next year and he doesn't even play. If the players around him develop he could become very dangerous.
Next Games 12-16 @ Ash Grove 12-19 vs Marshfield
5. Jordan Nuckols SR. Ozark Tigers
This 6'4" forward is coming off a season in which he averaged 17 points and 7 boards a game. With the returning lettermen Jordan is looking to have a huge season. The quaterback on the football field Jordan has the leadership necessary to possibly put Ozark over the top in a loaded district.
Next Games 12-16 vs Waynesville 12-19 vs Kickapoo
6. Preston Guiot JR. Bolivar Liberators
This 5'10" guard is one of the quickest in the area, with the ability to get to the free throw line as well as hit the 3's Preston is definately a threat from anywhere on the floor. His cool demeanor and ability to lead by example is an attribute that makes him very appealing to college coaches.
12-12 @ Clinton 12-18 vs Central
7. Mike Wiebe SR. Branson Pirates
This 6'5" power forward is capable of double doubles every night. Averaging nearly 19 and 9 last year he is one of the players on this list that can take over a game. Wtih several returners Branson has to be the favorite in the COC as well as a repeat District Champ.
12-16 @ Kickapoo Blue and Gold
8. Shawn Thomas SR. Chadwick Cardinals
Probably one of the most fun teams to watch this season if you like up and down basketball. Shawn is coming off of a Nintendo type season averaging nearly 24 points a game along with nearly 5 boards and 3+ assist. A player that may not be a NCAA type player but a must see along with the whole cardinal team.
12-19 vs Crane
9. Trey Laveroni SR. Webb City Cardinals
After a Final Four Finsih last year this 6'5" forward is the only returning starter. Trey is strong as well as a great leaper. The key will be whether or not Webb has any athletes sorrounding him. (thats a little sarcastic) Averaging more than 10 ppg last year he will be leaned on a little more this season and look for him to respond.
12-16 at Mac County 12-22 vs Central
10. Garrett Gladden SR. Everton Tigers
This 6'6" 250 post player is looking to build on an allready impressive resume which includes all-district, all-state and Conference MVP. Averaging 21 ppg last year look for those numbers to go up in his senior season. For his league, Garrett could be the most dominant player on this list.
12-15 vs Sarcoxie 12-19 @ Wheatland
This 6'2" Senior is the only returning starter for the Chiefs and will have to pick up some of the scoring they lost to graduation. Last year averaging more than 14 points per game Hall did not have to be the goto guy. This year however, he will.
