For the first time in History all Major League games are played under the lights, the Chicago Cubs were on the road and would not play a night game at Wrigley Field until this date in 1988.

St. Louis Browns pitcher Don Larsen goes 3 for 3 at the plate setting a record which still stands, collecting his 7th consecutive hit as a pitcher. On October 8th, 1956 Larsen would throw the only perfect game in a World Series vs the Brooklyn Dodgers. He would strike out 7, and be credited with a sacrifice at the plate.
