I am encouraging fans to send pictures of events they attend throughout the year.  As we begin the fall season this week, the Scoreboard Guy Network has decided to accept pictures from the fans.  You simply need to be able to email pictures from you phone or other device and I will post those pictures online giving you the credit.  Simply identify yourself, and the picture in the Subject area of your email and send those to

1890
Cy Young makes his major league debut with the Cleveland Spiders, records a 2-1 victory and will go on to win 511 games over the next 23 years, setting a mark that will not likely be touched.

1901
Burt Hart becomes the 1st player ever to be banned from professional Baseball for life after punching out umpire John Hastrel over a call

1907
Walter Johnson wins his 1st Major League game defeating Cy Young and the Cleveland Indians on his way to 417 career victories.  Both Cy Young and Walter Johnson would be members of the 1st Class inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939.

1946
For the first time in History all Major League games are played under the lights, the Chicago Cubs were on the road and would not play a night game at Wrigley Field until this date in 1988.

1953
St. Louis Browns pitcher Don Larsen goes 3 for 3 at the plate setting a record which still stands, collecting his 7th consecutive hit as a pitcher.  On October 8th, 1956 Larsen would throw the only perfect game in a World Series vs the Brooklyn Dodgers.  He would strike out 7, and be credited with a sacrifice at the plate.

1957
Brooklyn Dodgers President Walter O'Malley would make it official, The Dodgers would play home games in LA the following season.

1976
Missouri native, Cal Hubbard, with his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame would become the 1st professional athlete in both the Pro-Football and Baseball Halls of Fame.  Cal Hubbard was born in Keytesville Missouri in 1900.

1976
The Chicago White Sox take the field in the 1st game of a double header vs the Kansas City Royals wearing shorts.  They would don the long pants in the night-cap.

1981
Pete Rose collects his 3631st hit at home vs the St. Louis Cardinals to move ahead of Stan Musial as the all-time leader in career hits in the National League.

1985
Major League Baseball players union vote to go on strike, a strike that last only 2 days.

2001
Home plate umpire Angel Hernandez throws Chicago Bear Steve McMicheal out of Wrigley Field as he prepares to sing "Take me out the Ballgame"

2002
Major League Players union votes to allow random testing for illegal steroids.
