Lady Bears (21-12) advanced to the  Conference USA tourney with 74-69 over Florida International, they made close down the stretch nearly allowing a 15 point lead with 6:42 left in the fourth get away, following some turnovers and missed opportunities FIU cut the lead to 1 point with :38 seconds left, but the 11-0 run early in the game held up for the Lady Bears. They punched thier ticket to the Big Dance with 43-38 win over the Lady Techsters.  Holding LA Tech to just 12 points in the second half,  Kaemyn Bekemeier finished with sixteen points in 37 minutes, Lainie Douglas with 15 points and 5 blocked shots.  Bekemeier was named the CUSA Tournament MVP and Lanie Douglas was also a member of the all tournament team.   Lady Bears will head to Fort Worth TX on Wednesday to play in the "First Four" round of the NCAA womens tournament vs Stephen F Austin and the winner will advance to Play University of Texas. This marks the 18 time Missouri State has appeared in the NCAA Tournament field, as well as the 12th Conference tournament title, also the First Tournament title and NCAA appearance for Beth Cunningham as the Lady Bears head coach. 

#1 Seeds are UCONN South Carolina UCLA and Texas

A little side note, Arizona State and head coach Molly Miller also make the tournament as one of the "First Four" as an at large bid, winning two games in the Big 12 tournament including an upset win over Iowa State and losing a close game to the eventual champions West Virginia, so now the for the 1st time since 2019 Arizona State is in the tournamet with a 24-10 record and will play Virginia in Sacremento for the rights to move into a 10 seed and Play Georgia in the 1st round. 

Evangel Lady Valor under 1st year head coach Madi Wallace making hosting 2 rounds of the NAIA National Womens tournament at AG Financial Arena post a 79-74 win over University of Science and Arts Oklahoma 79-74 Cassidy Hambleton scoring 24 points,  but fell Saturday to Shawnee State University out of Ohio 81-67 in the round of 32.  Lady Valor finish 28-3. 

College of the Ozarks women defeated Eastern Oregon University Friday 82-67 in Mitchel South Dakota, But Saturday they fell to Dakota Wesleyan University 76-53

However with thier dual association they now wait to see about the NCCAA national championship tournament bid.

Missouri gets a 10 seed and will face Miami (FLA) in the 1st round of the west regional. 

And yes the 31-1 Miami of Ohio is in the Big Dance as maybe the last At-Large team selected and will play SMU in the "First Four" at Dayton. 

University of Arkansas and Local kid Treyvon Brazille enter the tournament as 4 seed, Matching up with Hawaii,  coming off of an SEC tournament championship game win over Vanderbuilt yesterday 86-75. Darius Acuff jr with 30 pts , Billy Richmond with 18 and Brazille with 16 including 4/5 from behind the arc. Brazille had 2 steals, 2 blocks and led the hogs in Rebounding with 9

World Baseball Classic

Team USA slowed the red hot bats of the Dominican Republic Last night with a 2-1 win.  Paul Skenes and the US pitching staff holds Dominican Republic to 1 run, a solo home run in the second inning,  USA also used the long ball for both of their runs in the 4th inning with solo shots from Gunnar Henderson and Roman Anthony in Miami last night. 

The United States will play the winner of Mondays Semifinal between Italy and Venezuela on Tuesday Night at 7pm ET in Miami. 


Bears Baseball: (12-7) 2-1 in CUSA took two of three from the Flames over the weekend despite being outscored 23-19 in the 3 game set.  Game 1 Liberty took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 7th then Carter Bergman hits a 2 run bomb in the top the 8 and the Bears hold on for the win. Trent Ash gets the win and Tyler Charlton picked up his 2nd save on the year. 

Game 2 Bears down 3 going to the 9th Bergman again goes deep to make it  a 2 run game 11-9, Brant Kragel double driving in a run and then a 2 run single by Bognepohl to secure the 12-11 win with 4 runs in the 9th. Lance Wade with the win and Charlton again the Save (3)

Game 3 Bears give up 2 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, 1 in the 4th and 4 in the 6th and fall 9-3, but still a series win for the Bears.

Bears host Arkansas State (15-6) Tomorrow at 3pm Arkansas State coming off of taking 2/3 from Southern Miss. 

Drury Baseball takes 3 out of 4 from Lewis in GLVC conference action over the weekend on Mark Worley Feild at Meador Park. They are now 12-8 overall and 3-1 in the conference. They will be at Pittsburg State Tommorow for a 3pm game before hitting the conference road at Illinois Springfield. 

Evangel Baseball (13-15) (8-9) in KCAC took 2 of 3 from York University over the weekend and will host Avila tomorrow and then a 3 game set with Tabor College. 

Mission University Baseball, the Patriots are 15-16 overall and 4-2 in conference play, they host Calvary College Wednesday and then 3 with Crowley's Ridge College at Ozark Mountain Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday.
